"The final years of life are like the end of a masquerade party, when the masks come off."
PHYSICAL THEATRE, MASK, AND CIRCUS PERFORMANCE
Created and performed by Annalesi Secco and Eugeniu Cornitel
FEBRUARY 5, 2025 - 8:00 PM
A journey through old age, memories, and connections, where love, adventure, and seduction intertwine. Physical theatre, mask, and circus come together to tell an intense and profoundly human story, where the past resurfaces as a precious gift.
The performance stems from the desire to tell a story of our times. Life habits are changing rapidly; dispersing and separating from one’s family has become the norm. While this allows individuals to chase their dreams, it often leads to loneliness for both those who stay and those who leave. In the past, the elderly were the pillars of the family unit, but now they often spend their final years alone, waiting for visits from loved ones who are swept away by hectic rhythms of life.
"Amintire" is a Moldovan word that can carry multiple meanings: an image preserved in memory, a carefully kept gift, or simply "to remember." The performance explores old age and loneliness, but also love, seduction, and adventure. Everyday life often pushes memories aside, but what happens when they persistently knock at the door? What does it mean for someone nearing the end of their life to reflect on the beginning of it? What stirs in an elder when memories of their youth, passion, and the beauty hidden beneath layers of lived experiences resurface?
🗨️ Followed by a talk with the artists.
🍭 The performance is also suitable for children.
🍒 The performance is the result of Annalesi and Eugeniu's residency work at Drupa Centre.

The study of body language is something they share. Both began their theatrical journey with dance, later continuing at the Alessandra Galante Garrone Theatre School, where they delved deeper into Jacques Lecoq's method, mask work, and acrobatics. They then expanded their expertise by studying clowning with Andrea Menozzi (Circolabile Company) and exploring the use of objects and their scenic potential.
